Follow the Flowers - Original

Inspired by footage captured during a walk through the beautiful grounds of Castle Ward in County Down, Follow the Flowers is a joyful celebration of summer, colour and the simple pleasure of wandering.

Castle Ward's gardens and grounds are full of contrasts — formal gardens giving way to woodland, open views and winding paths, with flowers and planting providing bursts of colour along the way. It was one of these moments that caught my eye: a path drawing you forwards, surrounded by an abundance of blooms beneath a bright summer sky.

I've painted the scene in expressive layers of pink, violet, blue and green, allowing the flowers to spill across the canvas rather than trying to capture every bloom individually. The path creates a natural invitation into the painting, encouraging you to imagine where it might lead.

For me, the painting isn't really about a particular garden. It's about that lovely feeling of having time to wander — following whatever catches your eye and discovering something beautiful along the way.

I hope Follow the Flowers brings a little of that feeling indoors: the colour and optimism of summer, the freedom of an unhurried walk and the invitation to follow the flowers and see where they take you.
